Fall Exhibition at the Albrecht Kemper Museum of Art!

On exhibit at the Albrecht Kemper Museum of Art I'm so thrilled to have my encaustic piece Internal on exhibit for October 2016 at the Albrecht Kemper Museum of Art.  Please come visit the Albrecht Kemper Museum in St. Joseph, MO to see her!  She's on exhibit until the Sugar Plum Festival.

International Encaustic Artists Grant Report

[embed]http://issuu.com/internationalencausticartists/docs/e-zine_spr-sum16-final[/embed] One year ago I was honored to receive the 2015 International Encaustic Artists Project Grant Award.  Now I have written my report on my grant year and the article is in this issue of encaustiZINE Magazine.  My grant was used for materials for my solo exhibition at the Kansas City Artists Coalition Underground Gallery.  It was a busy and rewarding year!  Also my work Cross Lands 1 made the cover.  Thank you IEA and the Kansas City Artists Coalition.

Cross Lands 1 - 4

Making Color Connections This group of four encaustic paintings titled Cross Lands 1 - 4 (24 in. x 24 in.) explores relationships between colors.  Cross Lands is part of my continuing Common Ground series.  Soon after starting this series I realized this was as much about diplomacy as painting.  Diplomacy took the form of painterly negotiations.  Seen separately they appear abstract, when the four pieces are shown together the hues coexist to suggest land and river forms seen from above.  Every space where the colors meet creates a boundary.  These boundaries create tension and strength.  During my painterly negotiations balance was found in viewing each painting as part of one entity.
